New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
This is the station for the city Lille or in Duthc Rijssel. The station has the local connections through out France and lies near the border with Begium.
About 300 metres away is Lille Europa where the Eurostar and other High speed trains are depart/arrive.
Railway type and traffic
Only Passenger trains with the TGV's and local trains.
Environment
It is a busy station where also the international connection to Belgium arrive.
Security is tight, so you can be ask to leave the platform. So it would be best to check in before commencing photography.
Road directions
  • Follow signs for A1/Dunkerque/Lille.
  • Continue onto A1/E42.
  • Take the N356 exit toward Gand/Gent/Tourcoing/Lille-Centre/Hellemmes-Lille.
  • Continue straight onto N356.
  • Take exit 2 toward Lille - Fives.
  • Continue onto Cheminot Coquelin Street.
  • Continue onto Javary Street/D941.
  • Continue to follow Javary Street.
  • Slight right onto Gustave Delory Street.
  • Slight right to stay on Gustave Delory Street.
  • Keep left to stay on Gustave Delory Street.
  • Take the 1st right onto Charles Saint-Venant Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Gare Square.
  • Continue onto Avenue le Corbusier.
  • Turn right onto Willy Brandt Avenue.
  • Take the 1st right onto Buisses Square.
  • the station is on the left.

    There is plenty of parking in the area.
    Public transport
    You can get here from Paris, Brussel and other parts in the country.
    You can also travel from London, Paris or Brussel to Lille Europe get off and walk to Lille Flandres.

    Amenities
    There is a paid toilet and some shops. Outside the station there is a big shopping complex, Euralille, with a lot of stores and restaurants.

    Photographic notes
    The track faces roughly south east so will favour morning departures but this is a terminus so you can photograph almost all of the day.
    The TGV's can be very long so you will have to walk along the platform.
    There are bridges over the station that can provide other options.
