The best way in is from the A49. Turn off west towards Beeston Castle just south of the over bridge at Tiverton (location of Beeston Castle Signal Box). Follow the lane to the T juncion in front of Beeston Castle and turn right. In about half a mile turn right again onto the lane that is the location.
There is plenty of parking on the wide grass verges and a 'lay-by' opposite the few houses just south of the bridge.
The nearest public transport is about 3 miles away in Tarporley.
The is a completely rural location. There is a pub (the Shady Oak) that does good food just north of the canal bridge.
There also plenty of shops cafes pubs in Tarporley which is about 3 miles away.
There is a small hotel in Tarporley which is about 3 miles away.
I only use this spot for steam specials heading west in the morning. The field and lane to the south east of the line offer a variety of shots, and the sun is 'in the right place'. This applies to westbound traffic all day.
