From the M4, Junction 15:
Head south on the A346 towards Marlborough.and continue to the junction with the A338 at Burbage. At the roundabout take the third exit (signposted Hungerford) onto the A338 and continue into Crofton. Once in Crofton follow the tourist signs to the Beam Museum.

Public transport
A bus service is available from Pewsey station to Crofton Pumps. This is a Wigglybus service which runs regularly throughout the day Monday to Saturday.

Note:
The Wigglybus is an innovative rural bus service which has a core circular route but will leave it to drop off/pick up at Crofton Pumps, Pewsey station and other villages and hamlets as requested. Therefore advance booking is required otherwise it is a fair walk back! Call 01249 460600 or visit Wigglybus.org.uk.

Photographic notes
Update 2017:The farm overbridge has been demolished but shots are still takeable for eastbound trains from the remaining mound.
The bridge (and several other spots in immediate area) on curve on near the old Crofton Beam Engine. Good views in both directions all day long. In the evening it is possible to get that glint shot (from bridge) when looking west. Most lens combinations will work. I have used 35mm to 400mm lenses.
You can keep walking east or west for several miles for even more picture opportunities. A fold-out canvas chair is a good accessory!
