Westbound on A30 between Pheonix Green and Hook:
At end of dull carraigeway, Murrell Green look out for minor road (left) called Totters Lane (it is very narrow so beware of that milk lorry). Follow lane for about 2/3rd of a mile (passing Totters Farm). The railway bridge is 100 yards or so past the farm. Nearest M3 Junctions are 5 & 4a.

There are a couple spots either side of the railway bridge to safely pull over.

Nothing at location. There are several roadside pubs on the A30. The Phoenix at Phoenix Green about 2 miles away is supposed to be reasonable (not tried personally).

Looking east:
The location's strongest feature is the view east towards Winchfield. The M3 and a minor dead end road span the line via two tall bridges, the latter bridge being particularly attractive. Winchfield Station and a pronounced change of gradient can be seen in the far distance through the bridges. On sunny days in the summer the down slow can be a little tricky to photograph (due to undergrowth) if you need to get onto the sunny side.

Looking west:
Open view of 4 track mainline, no problems with trees etc.
As with most locations these days a good telephoto will help enormously. Lenses of 200mm upwards really help pull the bridges closer when shooting east.
