Road directions
The location is the A143 bridge over the railway and the River Waveney, closer to the village of St. Olaves than Haddiscoe. The A143 runs south west from Great Yarmouth.
From Lowestoft: Take the B1074 from Oulton, via Somerleyton to St. Olaves.
Parking
Park on the grass verge of the station approach road, by the junction with the A143 south of the bridge.
Public transport
About half the trains call at Haddiscoe station, a short walk down the station access road, but it is a request stop. The local bus operator is First Eastern Counties.
Amenities
Not many facilities in the immediate vicinity. There may be a small shop in St. Olaves (0.5 miles away) or Haddiscoe (1.5 miles away). Otherwise, the nearest facilities are in Great Yarmouth or Lowestoft.
The line runs NW-SE. Shots are possible both ways, but that looking towards Reedham and Norwich is spoiled a little by distant electricity pylons. The shots feature the river in the very flat marshy landscape. Be careful crossing the road; you need to climb over the crash barriers. Looking towards Norwich (north west) the sun would be right from mid-morning, with the sun on the nose until mid afternoon. Looking towards Lowestoft (south east) the sun would be right from around midday, with the sun on the nose from mid afternoon. The location would be excellent for videographers due to the flat nature of the land and the long straight railway line. Panning round is not possible due to the width of the bridge. There may be some traffic noise if you are unlucky.
