From Inverness take the Road for Culloden Battlefield then go past the Battlefield for about 200 yards and turn right down the road for Clava Cairns. Once the road turns right for Clava Cairns you go straight on under Culloden Viaduct and turn right at the top of the road and you will see a rough Forestry Lay-by on you right hand side.
Once out of the Car you have walk straight ahead and climb over a Wall and then walk down the field and the Railway is right in front of you.
You can leave your Car in a rough Forestry Lay-by at the top of the field.
You can not get to this location by Public transport. But you can get to the other Side of the Viaduct by Bus. Simply take the
Rapsons Coaches no 7 Bus which will be going to Piperhill and ask the driver for Sunnyside. This bus leaves from the main post office at Queensgate in Inverness.
The nearest amenities would be in Inverness.
This shot is primarally for south bound workings only, there is not much of a shot for north bound trains. During the afternoon the sun moves to the west of the line putting the shadow side of the train on the photographers sied.
