Road directions
Taking the A1 north from Newcastle, you can either take the A1068 north from the A1/A19 junction near Cramlington, turning left onto the B1337 near Widdrington, or continue north along the A1 to Morpeth, then the A197 towards Pegswood before joining the B1337 heading north which crosses the railway at Widdrington Station.
Parking
There is a small parade of shops to the west of the station and there is a small car park round the back.
Public transport
The rail service to Widdrington is fairly infrequent, but Arriva service 518 runs hourly between Newcastle, Morpeth and Alnwick, taking just over an hour to reach Widdrington from Newcastle.
Amenities
There is a selection of shops, including a convenience store near the station.

Photographic notes
The line runs roughly north-south though curves fairly sharply through the station. From late morning the sun is right for south-bound trains passing through the station, and by mid-afternoon both ends can be photographed, the sun slowly making its way round to the rear of the south-bound trains.
