Trumps Mill Lane is between Virginia Water and Thorpe Green. If travelling from Virginia Water (from station) direction on B389, watch out for a lane on
the right hand after 2/3 mile (1km). The lane is marked as a dead end road and has a name board "Trumps Mill Lane". The nearest motorway junction is junction 11. Chertsey and Woking are about 5-10 minutes away.
Park in road on right hand side before the railway bridge, try not to obstruct driveways opposite. The road is private and very narrow after the bridge - no cars beyond this point.
Update: Parking has been restricted in this area, see the
forum post notes.
Shops in Virginia Water. The Rose and Crown Pub does food and drink on Thorpe Green (Turn right out of Trumps Mill Lane and follow for 2/3 of a mile.
Good most times of the day. Winter sun could represent some problems due to large number of trees. All lens combinations work.
The best views are had looking towards Virginia Water (West). Trains are slow due to the slow curve at the station and the grade up towards Trumps Mill Lane bridge and beyond. This would be a good spot for the steam photographer.
It is possible to get a good picture looking East, in sunshine there will be shadows from the trees.
