From the M6, junction 37:
Turn right (towards Sedburgh) for quarter of a mile, turning first left towards Grayrigg. Follow this road for about a mile before taking the first turning on the left again towards Lambrigg. Follow this narrow lane for over a mile until you reach what is technically a T junction, but in reality the road bends to the right past a farm on the left and onto the bridge.
From Kendal:
Take the A685 north. This road climbs out of Kendal and then crosses the main line twice. Turn first right after this second bridge, signposted to Docker.

There is definitely space for one or two cars to pull in tight by the hedge, however the lane is very quiet and I have seen 6 or 7 manage to pull clear (just!)

There is a bus running every 90-120 minutes between Kendal, Tebay, Shap and Penrith along the A685, operated by a variety of operators in conjunction with Cumbria County Council. Log onto the website to download the timetable.

There are no amenities in the immediate area. But Kendal should have some facilities

North West Gen

The line here is almost west to east. Until about 11-11.30 the light is best for northbound trains, though a telephoto lens is best for these. The best view is of southbound trains, and the light for these is best from 11.30 onwards.
