From A4 turn south at Gillett Corner into Syon Lane. More or less immediately turn right into Northumberland Avenue. Take the 4th left into Redesdale Gardens. Where the road turns sharp left at bottom, park.
On foot, at the dog leg take the footpath to the bridge.
Park in either Redesdale Gardens or Rothbury Gardens.
Get a SWT train service from Clapham Junction and Waterloo (Clapham Junction is 15mins away, service every 30 mins weekdays).
Exit Station on bridge. Immediately turn left, left again down a footpath between some houses. Keep going (parallel with railway going west) past some garages (where the footpath turns into a quiet street: Rothbury Gardens) and some newer small houses next to the railway line for around 300 yard or so. Where road turns sharp right away from railway, keep going straight on down a footpath where you will see the footbridge (50 yards).
There are two petrol stations at Gillette Corner (junction of A4 & Syon Lane) where you might be able to get sandwich (7 mins walk).
Just over the north side of the A4 on Syon Lane is a parade with a newsagent and a greasy spoon.
Or go back to Syon Lane and head south over railway bridge, take immediate left through housing estate. At T Junction on other side of road you will see a pub called the Coach and Horses (183 London Road). Hot food and
Young's Ales.

1 mile west down the A4.
Good view east all day. View West good, by mid to late afternoon you may be looking into the sun. The line run East to West. Most lens combos will work.
