Purton is a village signposted off the main A48 Chepstow to Gloucester road.
Leave the A48 and enter the village of Purton. The road comes level with the track and there are a set of gates leading to the track. Park hereabouts. With your back to the gates turn right and a few yards along the road is a footpath follow this over the wooden bridge and up the hill. This may be a little challenging. At the top you will need to climb over the fence on the right to reach the vantage point. BE VERY CAREFUL the edge is dangerous and there are cables and blocks that can trip you up hidden in the undergrowth. If you cannot manage the climb then from the gates turn left an follow the footpath under the railway onto a grassy bank where good shots can be had. The river is tidal so be careful not to get stranded.
There is limited parking by the railway gates.
None in the area, take a picnic. Lydney is nearby.
There is an abundance of varying types of accomodation within the area.

The Chepstow hotel is very comfortable and has an excellent restaurant. I was Charged £45 for Bed and Brekfast and the Evening Meal was £10.00.
This is a high vantage point and needs very good light to do any photo justice. Most of the day offers a photo opportunity.
