Road directions
From the M6 Junction 14: Head north west along the A5013 (i.e. away from Stafford), through Creswell. After passing through Great Bridgeford, turn right just before entering Little Bridgeford – which will take you over a narrow bridge over the WCML. (Follow the Brown signs for Izaak Walton’s Cottage and Museum). Follow the road, back over the WCML, and through Norton Bridge, passing the site of the now removed station. At the T junction at the end of the road, turn left, and the road to Heamies Farm is the next road on your right, marked with a T sign. Follow the single track road, until the bridge.
Parking
There is parking for several cars just before the bridge. If staying by the bridge, or venturing a little way along the footpaths, you car should be in sight.
Amenities
There are no amenities in the area, but several of the villages in the area have pubs and local shops.
Photographic notes
The line is running roughly south-east to north-west, so it is better location in the afternoon. The banks, especially along the southern footpath, can get quite overgrown so steps will be an advantage. The southern part of the line is on a nice curve, which with a long lens makes a nice photograph from the approaches to the bridge. There are several locations along the northern footpath, the best location is to be found by following the footpath across two wooden bridges, and through a bit of a copse. (Near Baden Hall as marked on the map). Obviously from here, you wouldn’t be able to see your car parked at the bridge. If you are used to the southern section of the WCML, the tracks here are reversed, with the slow/freight lines nearer to you, with the fast lines further away.
