From the junction of the A1 / A17 / A46 take the A46 into Newark. Follow signs to the centre then turn right onto the A616 marked 'Ollerton'. Follow this to the small roundabout in South Muskham village, where the A617 takes the first entry off the roundabout. Take the third entry from this roundabout and continue down lane to the level crossing.
Park car on lay-bys located by the level crossing.
Nearest accommodation noted, apart from caravan park, was at A1 / A17 / A46 roundabout where there is a Travelodge and associated facilities.
The location is best in morning from the eastern side. The light becomes head on about 12:00 and then the view is good from the western side only for southbound trains
