Road directions
The station is well signposted from both directions off the A38 and also from the town centre of Alfreton.
Parking
There is a car park and there is no shortages of spaces but the Town council have now placed a pay meter for how long you stay. People park in the town and walk down which is about 3 minutes or so.
Public transport
There is a bus service with four or five buses an hour passing the station 91, 92, 93 in both directions from Alfreton Town centre and also from Mansfield. Plenty of taxis around too.
Amenities
There are toilets on platform 1. There is a sandwich bar and chip shop a few minutes away towards the town centre plus a general store and post office. There is a beautiful Garden centre (Carnfield Hall) a minutes walk over the road bridge towards South Normanton.
Accommodation
Forte Travelodge in Alfreton on the A38 roundabout. There is a Travel Inn on the M1 J28 Roundabout at South Normanton both in between the Station and both offer cheap prices.
There are many Bed and Breakfasts in the town centre of Alfreton too.
Photographic notes
When your there you have a fair shot of all traffic in both directions, for both camera and camcorder footage. There are no shaded areas so when the sun is out you get good light. You can get shots in both directions on both platforms even standing on the footbridge at different levels to suit personal preferences.
