From the Grantham direction, take the A52 towards Nottingham. When you get to the village of Elton (by a pub/restaurant), turn right into a minor road signposted 'Orston'. The station is about 1/2 mile beyond on the right and there is an approach drive in which you can park. From the Nottingham direction, turn left off the A52 onto the same road.

There is an approach drive and space for car parking at the station. It is very rural so no expected problems; in addition, you can see your car from the station or the road bridge.

Very few trains stop at this station; there is, however, an hourly bus service (55) from Newark to Bingham that passes the station. Details from the Nottinghamshire County Council - Traffic and Travel site.

None in immediate the area. There is a pub/restaurant in Elton, and a general store and a pub in Orston (each about 1/2 mile away); otherwise Aslockton village (about 2 miles away) has more facilities, or you need to go to Bingham or Grantham.

Not in the area, but there is plenty of accommodation in Nottingham. There are also a number of motels on the A1, which is a few miles to the east.

The line is in a cutting to the west of the station but opens out onto flat land to the east. Good views can be had from the over bridge looking in either direction; as the line is straight, approaching trains can be seen from some distance away. The station platforms are also good for photography. The road sees little traffic, so there is little background noise. As the line runs east-west, the best views are in the middle of the day; at the beginning and end of the day you will be back-lit in one direction. In mid-winter, the cutting is likely to be in shadow.
