The footbridge is adjacent to the main A635 road between Stalybridge and Mossley.
There is probably space to park a few cars on the A635 near to the houses about 100 yards north of the footbridge, but avoid causing obstructions as the road can be busy at times.
Walk from Mossley station.
On weekdays, Mossley is served by hourly local trains between Manchester Victoria and Huddersfield. Outside the station, turn right onto the A635 and head towards Stalybridge. The footbridge is on the right hand side of this road, approximately 1 mile from Mossley. Walking time about 20 minutes.
An approximately hourly bus service from Ashton and Stalybridge runs along the A635 towards Mossley and Uppermill. Check the
Greater Manchester PTE site for local transport information.
None at the location. There are some shops near Mossley station, but the main facilities are nearly 2 miles away in Stalybridge town centre.
The line is aligned approximately north - south at this location.
The lighting conditions favour photography of trains heading south towards Stalybridge, although shade from line side trees can be a problem in the afternoon. For photography of trains heading north towards Mossley, a brightish but cloudy day might be preferable. Note that due to traffic noise from the A635, there is very little warning of approaching trains and you need to remain alert to avoid missing photographs.
