Leaving Newark-on-Trent take the A617 Mansfield Road. Cross over the River Trent and pass through the village of Kelham.
Shortly after leaving Averham take the road on the left signposted to Steythorpe Rolleston, and Fiskerton.
Cross Steythorpe level crossing and just under a mile later turn right onto a farm track on a bend.
The location is clearly designated by a home semaphore signal which is visible from the road.

Parking is available at the location and vehicles are visible at all times. Please bear in mind that access is via a farm track which gets muddy after rain.

The nearest railway station is Rolleston which is around a ten minute walk away. Services are on the Nottingham to Lincoln route and many trains only stop on a 'request' basis.
The Stagecoach bus service 29A from Mansfield to Newark (via Southwell) stops at Rolleston which is a short walk away.

There are no toilets at the location. There is a pub in Rolleston although there are no shops there.
The nearest shops and places to eat are either in Southwell or Newark-on-Trent, although there is a general store in the village of Fiskerton (on the Southwell road) a short drive away.

Bed and Breakfast accommodation can be found in both Southwell and Newark-on-Trent.

Lincoln Rail Gen

The line runs effectively in an East to West direction, and offers good views in both directions from either side of the track. Please bear in mind that all views are at track level, but line side foliage should not pose too much of a problem.
Looking West the line is straight and Rolleston station can be seen in the distance.
The best view, however, is looking East where good shots can be obtained of the semaphore signalling that is controlled from Steythorpe Crossing signal box (just visible in the distance.) The line to the East is on a slight curve.
