Road directions
Melksham is on the A350 and just south of the town is the B3107 heading west. It is off this road that you will find Mill Lane which crosses the single line between Chippenham and Westbury .
Parking
You need to be considerate when parking the lane is narrow and requires cars to be parked tight up against the hedges.
Public transport
The zigzag bus (routes 68 and 69) pass by. Also the x96 (and a Saturday morning 14 service) pass the road end (about 100 yards). The location is also walkable from Melksham Station (about a mile) which currently enjoys a train calling about once an hour.
Amenities
Full facilities are available in Melksham itself - a town of some 25,000 residents. And if you walk the mile between Melksham Station and the location, you'll pass by a large supermarket (Asda) and several other stores.
Accommodation
Well House Manor in Melksham offers overnight accommodation and is the HQ of the local Community Rail Partnership, with a museum room / display of historic pictures and current posters and rail literature.
Railway Gen Group
Wiltshire and Avon Gen
Photographic notes
The line runs north east - south west so photography is good most of the day for the southbound services. Northbound can be a challenge as the sun moves round and heavily back lights the scene. Photography is good in both directions.
Gardening gloves and cutters would be useful to clear brambles and a ladder to see over the bridge walls if you are vertically challenged.
