Road directions
From the M40, Junction 9:
Take the A34 and head south for about 2.5 miles. Then turn off for Islip and left onto the B4027 towards Bletchingdon. Continue through Bletchingon until the B4027 becomes the A4095. A few yards after this merge is the over-bridge.
Parking
There is plenty of parking approx 50 yards west of the over-bridge, but please do not obstruct access to the canal side pub (Rock of Gibraltar) or the small commercial premises.
Public transport
Oxford Bus service 25/25A is roughly half hourly during the day but passes only to within 1 mile of this location at Bletchingdon. The walk from Bletchingdon to the location is along a country road and generally without a footpath. Not recommended.
Amenities
The only 'amenity' is the Rock of Gibraltar about 50 yards west of the location. But it is a lovely canal side pub which serves meals and beverages. Very nice in the summer.
Accommodation
There is a touring and residential caravan park within a 2 minute walk east of this location.

Photographic notes
Southbound Trains viewed from NW Bridge Parapet in the afternoon. Visibility for about 1 mile straight so shots need not be rushed. There is a builders/merchants yard on the west side of the line and the are often stacks of pallets next to the line which may encroach into the shot - a little cropping or thoughtful use of focal length may be necessary.
Looking south, the line swings sharply to the east in a cutting, with high trees on the east side, providing heavy shade in the morning, head on sun around noon and a restricted view during the afternoon. Approaching trains can surprise you and the traffic noise can mask their arrival. Looking south is not the best.
The narrow verges prevent tripod use and the traffic noise would mean video work is almost impossible.
