North Yorkshire is a beautiful part of the country with large rolling hills and amazing scenery. It is also very open and very exposed so weather here can be extreme at certain times of the year. Given the moors nature of the location it would be sensible to dress for the outdoors and expect the weather to change.
Grosmont village is clearly signposted off the A169. From the station follow the footpath, that runs parrallel to the line, south and the trail will take you up and over the tunnel to the depot.
