Heading out of Hungerford High Street (A338) in the Salisbury direction you will cross under the railway line, take the next left up Park street (station is sign posted) and after a few hundred yards Station Road is on your left which leads down to the station or carry straight on to Hungerford common in less than quater of a mile.

Opposite the station is Sommerfield supermarket with a free short stay car park , longer parking is available at the station, not sure of the rates but you can park on the common for free.

You can get here by Bus from Newbury and of course by rail to Hungerford station itself.

Hungerford station is a few hundred feet from the high street with usual places to get food and drink. Opposite the station is Sommerfield supermarket which has toilets and a short stay car park, in the station car park is the Railway Tavern.
The common itself is in the country but a few hundred yard away is The Down Gate public house.

Upadtae 2017: Alas lineside vegetation growth has eliminated most of the shots along Hungerford Common though if you go much further east along the common beyond the pillbox the lineside is clear at the east end of Hungerford loop.
Photography is pretty good, the views from the common are clear with just a few trees here and there but you can clearly walk along the line on both sides and cross the line to move with the light. Keep walking East and cross under the line and you get some good shots along the Kennett and Avon canal. When reaching the pill box cross the road and you enter a car park used by walkers which offer very clear views line side.
