Road directions
From the A47 Guyhirn roundabout:
Take the A141 (signposted March) for about 5 miles before the road crosses over the March - Peterborough line on a concrete bridge. Take the B1099 off the roundabout immediately over the bridge (second exit), Norwood Road is on the left hand side, seventh turn off (housing estates included) on the left with a newsagents on the junction. Over the level crossing, take the first right to keep on Norwood Road and the green steel sided bridge over the entrance of Whitemoor Yard will become apparent.

If, however, you miss the turning for Norwood Road, continue into the town centre to find the traffic light controlled junction with the B1101 and the bandstand on the right. Go straight over, follow the road round to the railway station, over the crossing and turn left at the double roundabout - you are now on Norwood Road and the bridge will found about 500 yards down here.

From Ely:
Take the A142 to Chatteris, and follow the A141 (signposted March) until reaching the southern end of the town. The B1101 will take you into the town centre. Follow the road over the river to where the lanes divide on approach to the traffic light controlled junction with the B1099, with the town bandstand as the centrepiece. Turn right at this junction and follow the road round to the railway station, over the crossing and turn left at the double roundabout you are now on Norwood Road and the bridge will found about 500 yards down here.
Parking
You’ll have to find a spot on the roadside, it’ll involve a short walk to the bridge itself. Alternatively, park at the station (£1.50 flat rate) and take the ten minute walk back to the bridge.
Public transport
Bus timetables to the centre of March - Click the letter M for March. The March Town service has a stop on Norwood Road.
If on foot or bicycle from the railway station, turn left out of the entrance road over the level crossing. At the double roundabout, take the left turn onto Norwood Road; the bridge is about 500 yards down.
Amenities
None in the immediate area. If you head east along Norwood Road (general direction of the station which can be seen from the bridge, terraced houses on the roadside) and turn right at the double roundabouts you’re on Station Road. Cross the level crossing to find the station, with toilets and payphone. ‘The Little Friar’ chip shop can be found on County Road, the second right turn after the station.

Photographic notes
The views are limited to those off the bridge in either direction. Sunlight may prove a problem looking south later in the day.
There are not, at present, any real barriers to a clear photograph of trains in, entering or leaving the yard. With a telephoto lens you can see further into the yard itself, although how much will be visible once the proposed embankments (to act as sound barriers) are built is remains to be seen.

Update from Brian Carter:
A new path in the cess on the east of the line at Whitemoor Junction has lamp posts (which are shorter than normal street lights). These now get in the way of morning shots looking north from Norwood Road bridge, restricting the angles and train position - but shots are still possible. For wider views a set of steps is necessary to see over the new fence.
In the afternoon, watch out for the shadows from some very tall trees on the west side of the line.
