Head south on the B1113 out of Needham Market towards Baylham and Ipswich. Once you are out of Needham Market you will pass one private turning on the right and the first foot crossing on the left, before reaching a lay-by on the left with the foot crossing immediately visible to the left, about 100m away.
Park in the lay-by situated around 100m from the foot crossing. The crossing is easily visible from here.
It is about a 15-25min walk from Needham Market train station depending upon how fast you walk.
There are no facilities in the area but plenty of pubs, shops etc in Needham Market.
You can stand either fairly close to the railway or further back. You get excellent views both ways, with a nice long straight to the south and a signal to tell you when northbound workings are approaching. Light is good looking southbound for practically all of the day and also for southbound as long as you stand on the right side depending upon the time of day.
