Come off the A14 at Claydon and follow the road through the village. Once you have passed though Cladon then the next left turn leads you back across the A14 on to an access road. On the access road you're greeted with a sign saying private property as the land is owned by a fishing club. Whist this is true there is a public right of way across their land which leads to the location.
At the entrance or on the road.
Go back down Penthouse Lane, turn left and 50 yards on the left is the Sorrel Horse Pub, excellent bar meals. Claydon has 2 pubs and a general stores.
Fairly close to the line side at the crossing, but walking around the sand pits is useful to find some wildlife and scenic shots of pasing trains.
You are surrounded by disused gravel pits which have been landscaped and turned into a wildlife area. The location offers views from both sides as it is a footpath across the main line. The views are fairly tight.
