Road directions
From M4 Junction 28:
Follow signs for Castleton/A48/St Mellons then at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto A48 heading to Castleton/St Mellons then:
Turn left at Marshfield Road
Turn right at St Mellons Road
Take the 1st left onto Wellfield Road
Turn right to stay on Wellfield Road
Take the 1st left onto Whitethorn Way
If only going to the road bridge then do NOT turn onto St Mellons Road and you will arrive at the road bridge.
Parking
Parking in Whitethorn Way should not be a problem for the foot crossing or the bridge at the end of the foot path. Parking at the 'Broadway' road bridge is a little more tricky, and perhaps parking in one of the side roads would be best.
Public transport
Local buses from Newport.
Amenities
There is the 'Port O Call' pub which does pleasant food and drink. Otherwise Cardiff and Newport are the nearest places.
Accommodation
Nothing in the immediate area. So Newport or Cardiff

Photographic notes
The line runs North East to South West so sun on the front of eastbounds early in morning and on the front of westbounds from mid morning to mid afternoon when the sun will move onto the other side. Freight normally uses the freight lines which are to the south of the passenger lines. Photos possible with the sun on the side (until it moves round) of trains on any line.
