A new mobile site has been ceated. Whilst this page will remain you may find
Trainspots mobile better suited to a smart phone.
There is room for about 8 cars.
On Foot:From the station turn left at first set of traffic lights, left at next junction passing Crewe Alexandra football club on the left, keep on this road and eventually you will pass under the railway. A little while after this turn right at the first roundabout and follow this road along and over the A500 dual Carriageway and into Shavington village. Continue to the junction with Weston lane and follow the signs towards Weston. Eventually you will cross over the railway on a birdge, this is
not the location. Continue along and you will reach Casey Lane on the right, turn down here and you will reach the bridge and the location.
There is a usable bus service which almost links Crewe station to this location. Follow walking directions to just past the football stadium, by the car park.
Bus 44 runs hourly weekdays from this stop to
Dodds Bank which is the corner with the shops where you turn for Basford. This will save around 40 minutes of walking.
Bus 39 runs less frequently from the same stop but this turns at Dodds Bank and goes to Basford which is even better.
There is also a bus route on the east side of the railway. From outside the hotel across the road from Crewe station take route 85 (7 day service) to
Weston Stepping Stones Nursery. Then walk down Whites Lane at the side of the nursery. This lane has no footpath but is reasonably quiet. It runs through to Dodds Bank but for Casey Lane turn left when you see the first
railway bridge (do not go to the first bridge).
No toilets nearest shops about 1.5 miles away.
You can take photos and videos from both directions but only from the western side of the line. The field to the east is a private paddock. Steps may be helpful to get over the bank side for trains heading north into Crewe, but the field nature of the location steps may 'sink'.
There is no real shot from the bridge as the WCML OLE Gantries obscure the view.
