From the A10 between Royston and Cambridge take the exit for 'Melbourn, Meldreth and Whaddon' and then turn right into Meldreth Village. Shortly after passing under the A10 road bridge there is the Fieldgate Nursery, you could park here, however it may be better to park in the side road off Station Road and walk under the A10. From the roadside the footpath to the crossing is sign posted.
Parking in the side road off Station Road.
No public loos nearby except for the pubs etc. But this is a rural location. Fieldgates is a nursery shop so sells not only fruit and veg but general groceries. On site is a Butcher's shop.
Meldreth village has an Indian take-away at the station and further along the High St. there is a mini-supermarket with Post Office. Just beyond is the British Queen pub which serves food (and has a large car park). Melbourn has a fish & chip shop close to the Dolphin pub. The latter serves food from lunchtime through till about 21:00. Next to the Dolphin is a Post Office. There is a Co-op with pharmacy in Melbourn less than half a mile away. All facilities are within a mile.
Cambridge Motel on the A10 useful. Royston offers a couple of hotels but Cambridge has a huge range of accommodation and is linked by rail to Meldreth.
Summer evening light may provide some silhouettes and the views across the line maybe better then. The road and passenger bridges at the station can be good but are difficult with their high sides. A decent video may be possible from those bridges.
