From the M11, junction 11. Head south on the A33 and turn right towards Mortimer and Grazeley at the traffic lights. Continue along this road for about 3 and a quarter miles you will see a public footpath sign pointing off to the left and the lay by just after that. If you miss it you can continue down the road into Mortimer Village and turn around at the mini roundabout.
The footpath crosses a small stream on a bridge and then you reach the location.

There is a lay by nearby where you can park away from the road. This should accomodate a couple of cars if you park consideratley.

Mortimer has some shops, take aways and few pubs.

Wessex Rail Gen [WRGen]

As with all foot crossings please remain a safe distance from all lines. Whilst you are looking in one direction it is possible another working may be approaching behind you. Remain vigilant and acknowledge approaching trains with a wave.

You can shoot in both directions from the crossing although the western side of the line is not an open view. The eastern side affords both close up views an more open shots from the field opposite. So this will favour moring southbound shots or very early morning northbound workings to catch the sun. After about 11 the sun will be round for southbound workings and should remain good until early afternoon.
