Road directions
From the Dorchester direction take the first exit on the left after passing through the village of Grimstone. Follow this road along, passing through the village of Frampton along the way. Once you have arrived into the centre of Maiden Newton, turn right onto Church Road. Follow this road round to the right and then turn off onto Station Road on the right, and the station is around 500 yards up this road on the right.
If coming from the Yeovil direction on the A37, take the turning on the right at the Folly Hill Junction and follow this road for around 1.5 to 2 miles. Once you have passed over the railway, around a quarter of a mile later the turning for the station is on the left, which is a very sharp hairpin bend. Follow this road and the station is on your right. Please note that the latter direction from the Folly Hill turning down into Maiden Newton is quite steep in some places with some blind corners.

Personally I have found that lighting is best from the beginning of the afternoon to the evening, with the sun making its way round to the north end of the station at the end of the day. On a clear sunny day, some very good shots can be obtained of trains sat in the station waiting to pass another train from either direction.
