From the A38 southbound. After passing the large Barton Business park take the next exit which is a sweeping curve. Halfway round this curve you will see a left turn which is Catholme Lane. Follow this road and at the t junction turn right continue along this road and you will reach the location.
There is plenty of grass verges on which you can park your car, but make sure there is room for other vehicles to pass.
There is nothing in the immediate area. To the north on the A38 there is a Little Chef and a number of filling stations.
The line is running north east to south west at this location and is well lit for southbound workings most of the day. There is little in the area to cast shadows on the line. The line is also dead straight around the location.
The quarry facilities produce a constants stream of clanks and crashes which would interfere with sound recordings.
