Road directions
From the A1 southbound: Take the Junction for Port Seaton / Tranent / Prestonpans (A198). At end of the slip road take the second exit from the roundabout. A little farther up this road, on right hand side, is the former entrance to Blindwells open cast loading site, park here. Walk further up road and just before the roundabout you are on the railway over bridge.
Parking
There is room for a couple of cars to park at what was the entrance to Blindwells open cast loading point.
Public transport
Leave Prestonpans station via the car park and turn right. Stay on this road to the roundabout, passing Cockenzie power station reception sidings on the left. Then turn right at the roundabout and cross over to other side. (walking approximately time approx 20 minutes)
Amenities
Plenty of facilities in Prestonpans town, however this is not within walking distance.
The only view from this location is facing south. A telephoto lens will be required due to electrification masts. Best time is from around midday, when sun is more or less behind the camera, though reasonable results are obtained earlier.
Extra notes for videographers The location is next to a busy main road so is quite noisy.
