From the A1000 take a left turn signposted Cuffley. Follow this road for about a mile and just where the road bears right take the left turn (The Ridgeway). Continue along this road and through the village of Cuffley. Just as the village ends there is a play area on the left. Turn into and park here. Then follow the path, heading away from the road, towards the viaduct.
Another way in to this location can be found by driving up The Ridgeway towards Potters Bar and as you go past Chase Farm Hospital and the Ambulance station on the right the track down to the line starts where the houses end and the fields start.
Parking is provided for the play area and tennis club, you have to walk to the location from there.
None at the location (it is a field) but there are newsagents and pubs in the village of Cuffley
The location offers views from both the north bound (eastern side) and the south bound (western side). There are banks on either side of the line giving you a better perspective on the viaduct but views of trains going in the opposite direction would be hindered by the angle of the viaduct.
To the east there is a tree growing that now obscures part of the shot, but it would usually only cover the second or third vehicle of a formation.
