Road directions
From the M23, junction 9: Proceed up the spur for Horley, junction 9A and go straight across the first roundabout which is the end of the motorway. Then the dual carriageway will pass over another. At the next roundabout on the edge of Gatwick North Terminal take the third exit, signed Redhill A217. At the next roundabout head right up the A23 North towards Redhill. After about 5km the station approach is on the right in the dual carriageway section.
Parking
There is a car park at the station, but is liable to be quite pricey.
Public transport
Salfords is served by an hourly London to Horsham stopping service.
Amenities
There are no facilities on the station. There are a few in Salfords, but it is not a very big place. Gatwick Airport is 5km to the South, Redhill the same distance the other way.
Accommodation
Given the proximity to Gatwick Airport there is abundant hotel accommodation in the area.
The track alignment is very close to north to south. The fast lines run around the station platforms to the East. The best photography is in the early afternoon for trains heading south. The Gatwick 73s should be leading if running in correct formation. Late afternoon Northbound shots are also possible on the fast lines heading North. Much less traffic, mainly the stoppers and Thames services use the slow lines, but this is difficult for photography due to station lighting columns and other clutter. The footbridge is in an urban area and has significant non station use, but is not unduly noisy for video work.
