From Leicester:
Take the A46 road to Wanlip. From here follow signs for East Gosgate. On arrival at East Gosgate take the A607 road. Keep following this road until you come to the top of a large hill, there will be a sign for Rotherby here, take the second left turn after this sign. Go straight down to the bottom of this road until you come to a gate. Open this gate and proceed towards the railway line. Then walk up to the gate.

A radio mast has been recently errected at the crossing and, whilst not spoiling the shot, does provide a handy land mark to aim for.

A good spot to leave your car - you can park it on the grass in the field where the crossing is situated. Its a very tranquil place.

Centrebus operates service 128 on behalf of Leicester CC and runs hourly between Melton Mowbray and Leicester via Frisby village. See Travelline Midlands for more details. Getting there by walking is alright, and so is biking. People arriving on a push bike can prop it up against the gate, or the fence.

There is an off-license newsagents in the village of Frisby, less than one mile away. There is also a pub around the corner from the newsagents.

For trains heading East towards Melton Mowbray, the light is good between 09:00 and 12:00 during the Summer and from 08:00 until 11:00 the rest of the year. For trains heading West towards Syston/Leicester, the light is good between 12:00 and 14:00 in the Summer and from 11:00 until 14:30 the rest of the year. You can shoot trains in both directions fairly well, there are various angles available including the option to take a shot from the large hill on the West side of the location, which is accessible by entering the field from the road just before the river bridge. This applies to videographers as well.
The crossing is an 'R&G' type (Red and Green) and has lights that warn you, by going red, when a train is approaching. There is also warbling boxes at the location. Whilst not loud these would certainly appear on video sound tracks.
