A new mobile site has been ceated. Whilst this page will remain you may find
Trainspots mobile better suited to a smart phone.
Meadowhall shopping centre is easily signposted from the M1, follow these signs, park in the car park and then there are a few ways of getting to the station, I always go through Marks and Spencer in the Shopping centre, and then walk over a big white bridge to the station, which is also a bus interchange.
You can leave your car in the Meadowhall centre car park, beware of the times the centre shuts though, because the car park will be locked at this time. There are loads of places to park, so do not worry about spaces.
Meadowhall is easy accessible by Public transport, trains that stop at Meadowhall are to be caught from; Sheffield, Rotherham, Swinton (S.Yorks), Leeds, Manchester, Grimsby, Doncaster, Stockport, you can easily go the Doncaster or Sheffield and change there, as they both are nearby and have good transport connections. See
Arriva Trains Northern and
Transpennine Express for train times. There is also Sheffield supertram and the buses, check out the
SYPTE website (South Yorks Passenger Transport Executive).
There are toilets on platforms 1 and 2, along with vending machines and a hot drinks machine.
Meadowhall also has a huge food hall with loads of food shops like McDonalds / Pizza hut as well as some non fast food places.
Light is not usually a problem as there are four platforms, 2 main and 2 on the Barnsley branch. Videoing is fine too, you can just move around as the sun moves.
Beware of fast trains!
