Golant is located at the end of an unclassified road. Heading west on the A390, two to three miles after passing through Lostwithiel, turn left onto the B3269. Golant is signposted on the left after a few more miles.
There is parking on the waterside and at the pub. Care should be taken at high tide as the road is liable to flooding.
First bus 25 operates hourly from St. Austell and Par. This stops at the top of the lane on the B3269 from where it should be a pleasant 25-30 minute walk to the village.
There is a picturesque pub situated on the river front which is open at dinner times.
The light is best around dinnertime. The train usually heads towards Fowey between 10.30 and 12.00. The train returns empty mid-afternoon. If travelling by car, it is possible to wait for the train to arrive at Lostwithiel station from the St. Austell direction. As soon as the train has passed through the station into the loop to run round, head direct to Golant.
