Road directions
Cockwood is on the A379 south of Exeter and the M5, which leads to Dawlish. It is on the left about a mile after passing through Starcross.
Parking
There is a small lay-by just as the road turns right away from the railway and river past the harbour.
Public transport
Starcross station is about 15 minute walk away and Stagecoach services 85/85A run every 15 minutes between Exeter, Dawlish and Newton Abbot/Torquay and cross the harbour.
Amenities
There are no toilets or shops in the area though there are two pubs overlooking the harbour.

Please note:
As of October 2007 this location has had a large metal fence errected spoiling the shot, this fence may be removed at some point but at the moment the shot is off.


In the afternoon light is best on the south side of the harbour for trains heading south (West from Exeter). Teatime to early evening, the sun swings round to give photos from the north side of trains heading in the opposite direction, towards Exeter.
