Ystrad Mynach station is on the A472 Pontypool to Pontypridd road just west of it's junction with the A469 Cardiff to Rhymney road. The station road is immediately on the left after passing under the bridge.
There is a station car park.
There is a regular hourly service from Cardiff, with extra trains at Peak Hours and a 30 minute frequency on Saturdays.
The light is best in the morning for trains heading up the valley. There is an excellent selection of lower-quadrant semaphores.
