Road directions
Ulverston is on the A590 trunk road from junction 36 of the M6 to Barrow. The station is to the left of this road as it passes near the town centre, just before it returns briefly to dual-carriageway.
Parking
There are residential roads around the station to park in if nowhere else can be found.
Public transport
All Barrow Line trains call at Ulverston. There are regular bus services from the town provided by Stagecoach, including the hourly express X35 from Kendal to Barrow and the 6/6A which run every 15 minutes between Ulverston, Dalton and Barrow.
Amenities
There are plenty of shops and pubs in the town.
Accommodation
There is plenty in the are, but it will be busy in summer.
Good photographs can be taken on the station, especially including the architecture. Views over the station can also be had from the road bridge at the east end of the platforms, though the parapet of this is quite high. There is also a road bridge about a quarter of a mile west of the station. This carries the A590 over the line, so is very busy with traffic, but there is a grass area immediately over the track on the east side from which you can get good shots of the semaphores and signal box as a train leaves for Barrow. To reach this from the station, turn left over the road bridge, left again, and this road will bring you onto the A590 which you follow to the bridge. Being roughly east-west at this point, the light is best in a morning for trains towards Lancaster and in the afternoon for those heading for Barrow.
