Road directions
Dumbarton Central is on the A82. If coming from Paisley etc, Go over the Erskine Bridge and follow signs to Craignlarch/A82 until you get to traffic lights near the West Dumbartonshire Council offices. Go Straight on until you come to a roundabout, take 1st Left and go straight down were you will see the Meadow Centre Leisure Pool. Dumbarton Central is right in front of this.
Parking
There are no parking facilities at Dumbarton Central. However parking is available at the near Town Centre. Or there is limited spaces at Tell Training which is usually full during the day. The Leisure Centre also provides a few limited spaces.
Public transport
From Glasgow Queen Street low level take a train to Helensburgh Central or Balloch Service which will take you to Dumbarton Central. First also provides a regular bus service to Dumbarton from Glasgow. Either the 204 or 205 to Balloch.
Amenities
The local town centre is a 10 minute walk or there is a pub across the road from the station which serves a daily lunch time meal which is quite nice and reasonably priced. The town centre offers variety including Chip Shop, Greggs etc.
Accommodation
The Abbortsford Hotel/Dumbuck Hotel is close, but it is nearer to Dumbarton East Station.
The light generally comes from the west. Generally around 10am - 1pm is the best time. The best place to take photos or videos is from platform 1. This provides a good place to take photos coming from Helensburgh, West Highland Line or Balloch. Also from Glasgow/Airdrie/Drumgelloch.
