Road directions
From the A1(M) Junction 36:
Come off the motorway and head west following the A630 towards Conisborough and Rotherham. In Consiborough take the A6023 into Mexborough.
Just before the railway crossing take the left, you are now going toward the village of Old Denaby. When in the middle of this small village there is a single track lane on your left, this will take you to the line.

As above but when on Doncaster Road (A6023) take your 2nd right then your 1st right at the T Junction onto Church Street. Just before the Ferryboat pub there is Ferryboat Lane walk from here over the canal and river towards the metal footbridge that goes over the railway.
Parking
You can either park your car at the end of Ferry Boat Lane or in the Ferry Boat pub car park.
Public transport
When you leave the station look for the steps on your right that go down the side of the canal - walk along the canal path till you see another bridge on your right that takes you over the River Don. You will see the grey metal footbridge that goes over the line.
Amenities
No toilets other that at the railway station, or the Ferry Boat / George and Dragon pubs on Church Street. The latter does serve food, or there is a chippy on Doncaster road with the junction of Hallgate Road.

Photographic notes
The line runs west to east so you can photograph in both directions from the bridge, with the sun favouring west bound morning and eastbound afternoon shots. As it is a bridge the steps will give you varying height against your subject.
