You can either park your car at the end of Ferry Boat Lane or in the Ferry Boat pub car park.
When you leave the station look for the steps on your right that go down the side of the canal - walk along the canal path till you see another bridge on your right that takes you over the River Don. You will see the grey metal footbridge that goes over the line.
No toilets other that at the railway station, or the Ferry Boat / George and Dragon pubs on Church Street. The latter does serve food, or there is a chippy on Doncaster road with the junction of Hallgate Road.
The line runs west to east so you can photograph in both directions from the bridge, with the sun favouring west bound morning and eastbound afternoon shots. As it is a bridge the steps will give you varying height against your subject.
