The station is on the A8 route into Edinburgh.
There's a station car park.
Frequent train service from Waverley and plenty of buses from the centre of Edinburgh
Newsagent by the ticket office and station buffet on platform 4.
At the east end of the station the line goes into the Haymarket Tunnels so the west end of the station has better lighting. Apart from one or two trains an hour, all services are heading out along the straight. So the west end of the station allows some good shots. I prefer platform 4 as you can see right across all four lines, but the island platform also offers a good vantage. The only problem is the evenings when you'll have the sun in your eyes when facing west.
