From the A69:
If coming from the Newcastle direction, take a left turn signposted 'Ridley Hall, Beltingham' about three miles west of Haydon Bridge. Follow this road under the railway and then almost immediately turn left. This is a very narrow road with blind bends, so take care. After about a mile, the road will bear sharp right and you will see the bridge on your left.

From the west:
The Ridley Hall turning off the A69 is about a mile east of Bardon Mill village, then follow the directions above.

You can park by the bridge, but be careful not to obstruct road and farm traffic. It is very rural and the car is in your sight, so no problems.

Nearest station is Bardon Mill, about two miles to the west but you have to walk along the A69 for nearly a mile.
Bus 685 (Newcastle - Carlisle) also uses the A69; ask the driver where the best stop is to alight for Ridley Hall. It is then at least a mile walk along the minor road, as per directions by car.

Nothing at all. Bardon Mill village has a village shop and a pub and Haydon Bridge ditto (not visited), otherwise the nearest town is Hexham.

This is Hadrian's Wall country and there are a number of small hotels and Bed and Breakfasts in the general area catering mainly for walkers. Contact the local tourist board for information. There are also hotels in Hexham, otherwise it is Newcastle or Carlisle.

North East Gen

The line runs east-west and is straight in both directions, so you have plenty of warning of approaching trains. You can get either head-on or angled shots. Note that the presence of trees may result in unacceptable shadows in winter looking west in the afternoon. It is very quiet, so video should not be a problem.
