Long Buckby Wharf is just south-west of Long Buckby village itself. The M1, canal, and WCML are within close proximity to each other here, with the railway actually crossing the canal at this particular location.
Railway type and traffic
Traffic is mainly Virgin Pendolinos, and the occasional Desiro unit or Voyager. At least one loco hauled diagram each day is booked past here (as at June 2007).
Although this is on the WCML, it must be noted that some services, including most freight is diverted away from this location, being pathed along the Northampton loop.
Also this location is very quiet on a Sunday, as most passenger trains also take the loop.

This is a canal side location which can be very busy with tourists at times.
From M1 Junction 18:
Head towards Kilsby. When you reach Kilsby you come to a roundabout, here you need to take A5 turning to Milton Keynes. After a short time, you will see a left hand turn to Watford. Ignore this, and continue down the A5. You will soon see 'The New Inn' to your right as you cross the canal. You need to turn left at the junction just ahead. As you near the Railway and motorway bridges ahead, you will notice an area on the right hand side where you can park your car. The canal passes under the road just a few yards further ahead. If you can, please park as described above. DO NOT park in the road opposite to this, as although it looks like a dwelling, the building is actually a surgery, and room is often needed in assisting elderly patients in and out of vehicles here.
If you continue to walk down the canal, you will come to Whilton Locks where there is a garden centre and restaurant. Long Buckby village also has lots to offer. The New Inn on the A5 is recommended for its great selection of beer, and outstanding meals.

Railway Gen Group
Shots are limited here, but the location can provide something a little different to break up the monotony of Pendolino shots which all look the same!
Although mostly suited to morning shots, an alternative summer shot of the bridge crossing the canal can be had from about 16:30 onwards.

If you continue south past the railway bridge, line side shots are clearly more difficult. So let`s see if I could make the most out of a bad situation........ Well, it`s a nice tree.......... Maybe an interesting shot of a desiro unit could be had here.....?
