Several other nearby photo. locations within walking distance of station. 1. Footpath crossing on west side of station. Walk through Linear Park on site of old railway line to St. Helens, branch right after passing some allotments. 2. Minor track over bridge between station and A570 road. Vegetation clearance has recently improved this location for photos of eastbound trains in the morning. From (1), cross railway line at footpath crossing, then follow path next to railway line across a playing field and through a small wood. From A570 road, near to the railway bridge, walk eastwards along Red Delph Lane and turn right at the end. 3. Maggots Nook bridge, about 0.5 miles east of station. Walk along footpath which runs alongside the railway line until reaching the bridge - allow 10 minutes. The line here is in a shallow cutting, and the line is partly shaded in mid-winter.
At all the following locations, the sun is OK for eastbound trains until mid to late morning, although trees can cast shadows on the train at the footpath crossing.
