Road directions
Romiley is about 2 miles from junctions 12/15 of the Manchester Orbital Motorway M60 in its South-east corner. Follow the A560 towards Bredbury then turning right onto the A6077 towards Romiley. The main street in Romiley takes you under the railway bridge and there is a station car park on the right immediately after.
Parking
Strangely the station car park is free only if you park at the top end of it so take care to park in the right section! If going to the bridge mentioned below then there is a small pay and display car park near the bottom of the lane leading up to it as the lane itself is a private drive (though Public Footpath).
Public transport
Romiley is well served by both trains from Manchester, and two-hourly from Sheffield, and by buses from Stockport.
Amenities
There is a range of shops, take-aways etc on Romiley High Street. There are at least three pubs, the Romiley Arms outside the station serves food all day.
The light is generally best for trains heading from Manchester, the time of day dictating which side of the line to stand. Pictures can be taken in either direction from the station. A short walk will take you to a bridge north of the station spanning the two branches towards Manchester. Head west down the main street until you reach the last pub on the left hand side. On the right is a small car park with a tiny one-way road behind. Head along this road, Dye Lane, and up the second road on the right, Quarry Road. This lane climbs steeply up becoming almost a track before crossing the bridge.
