Road directions
The M60 motorway runs right under the mainline just north of the station.
From the motorway you need to exit at Junction 28 then take Travis Brow this will take round and back across the M60, then go straight on at the next roundabout and take the 1st left which will take you into Chestergate. Once onto this road, you should take the second turn off onto Wellington Road then, Stockport Station is situated on the 2nd exit.
Parking
The is a full car park situated outside the station, operated by Virgin.
Public transport
Getting to Stockport by Public Transport is fairly easy. All Services from Manchester Piccadilly heading to Crewe, Norwich, Sheffield, South Wales as well as the various local services call at Stockport.

There is also the Wayfarer ticket that gives unlimited travel to a number of places in the GM area and details can also be found in the Greater Manchester PTE site, this ticket been priced £8.40 for Adults and £4.20 for Children/OAPs.

There is a Quick Snack on the Station situated on Platform 2.With Manchester Piccadily, and the city center, been only 10 Mins away there is plenty amenities there.

Photographic notes
The best platform for photography would be platform 1/2 as this gives you a straight look across Stockport Viaduct.
Platform 4 is also good, this gives you good video footage of any northbound freights that get signal checked.

Be aware Stockport Station lies under the flight path into Manchester Airport, so planes fly over every 2 or 3 minutes.
