The station is located on the main A565 Liverpool-Southport-Preston road.
From Southport, the road leads directly off the south end of the main street (Lord Street).
From Liverpool, follow signposts for Southport except DO NOT turn left onto the Coastal Road after passing RAF Woodvale.
You can park for short periods outside the station in the lay-by. Alternatively for longer than about an hour you would have to use the residential roads around the station.
There is a parade of shops at the bottom of the station bridge. For the nearest pub, head east down the bridge and past the shops. Turn left by the church into Arundel Road and continue to the next set of Traffic Lights where the Crown is on the right.
Light is best for southbound trains towards Liverpool. At anytime of the day you can photograph from the road-bridge, entering the station from the platforms would be best in the afternoon.
