From Colchester follow the road to Halstead (A1124) once under the viaduct head towards the cross roads, and turn up Station Road and the station is located on the right
The Museum has a car park, and long station forecourt which you can safely park your car.
The station is served hourly, 7 days a week by trains between Marks Tey and Sudbury, and services run from about 6am - 10pm. The
Sudbury Branch Line website gives full information regarding those services.
First Essex Bus also run service 88 (Colchester to Halstead), which passes through Chappel, the station is a short walk up the hill from the bus stop
The museum has a shop to purchase snacks from on the ground level (along with the book shop) , and on operating days the 'Signals Restaurant' on platform 2 is open.
There is also a small village shop just down the road near the viaduct
There is a small Bed and Breakfast in Station Road, and a few others near by, full details can be found on the
East Anglian Railway Museum website.
Good photographs of the viaduct can be taken from the Millennium Field, cross over the road under the viaduct, cross over the river and follow the path into the field (it can however, be very wet/flooded after heavy rain).
In the station light is not too much of a problem, however the sun (if out!) will be from the direction of the viaduct from mid afternoon onwards.
