Road directions
The village is split by the A12, and the station is located on a side road on the A120, head towards the roundabout for the A120, and follow signs to Station.
Parking
Marks Tey has a car park on both sides, these are railway owned pay and display (the car park on the down side can be seen from Platform 2), there is also a pickup bay which you can park in for around 20 minutes. Car Park is patrolled by a private company at random.
Public transport
By Train:
Services from London Liverpool Street to Clacton, and to Colchester Town stop at Marks Tey. From the Country direction only the all stations service from Colchester Town stop at Marks Tey.

By Bus:
First Essex Bus operate services operate services from Chelmsford and Colchester (70) and Braintree and Colchester (71) which stop on the A120, just over the road from the station.
Amenities
There are Toilets located in the station, there is a local store, Chip Shop, mini supermarket and Petrol Station and Kiosk located over the other side of the A12 (Walk over the bridge outside the station).
Accommodation
The Marks Tey Hotel is located along the road towards Stanway and Colchester, within minutes of the station, I think its quite expensive though!

Photographic notes
From platform 2 there are good views of the towards Colchester (Stand near the foot bridge on the platform for best view), in the other direction (towards London) the line curves and you cant see too far, but if you stand near the S Car Stop on platform 2, and watch the signal and listen to auto announcer you will know when train is approaching.
Due to the curvature of the platform, the up side (Platform 1) is not very good for photographs.
You can just see the siding from Platform 2/3 but it is better to walk out of the station via Platform 1, turn left and head into a piece of land used as an extra car park.
Background noise is not too much of a problem, just the slight sound of passing traffic, also the Sun in not too much of a problem in either direction.
